Turtle Hill Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Muenster, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
Turtle Hill Golf Course opened for play in 1993. The course was designed by Dick Murphy.
The front nine is more traditional and straighforward, but the back nine is where the fun begins with a variety of holes, elevation change, doglegs, blind shots, narrow, I mean narrow tree lined chutes they call fairways, and elevated tees, including one of the best par 3's in terms of elevation you might ever play. There's water on 6 holes and but just 19 sand filled bunkers.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,742 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,019 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 567 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 153 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 457 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Turtle Hill Golf Course is # 6, a 372 yard par-4.
The signature hole is a #11, a par-3, 204-yard hole that is one of Texas' most scenic and unique holes. Texas Golfer magazine named it one of the 18 most unique holes in the State of Texas. From the elevated tee box, one can see the Oklahoma border seven miles away. The green is 120 feet below the tee box, so the hole plays much shorter than its recorded distance, but it's not one you'll want to miss!

This is an interesting golf course. It has holes that are wide open but also holes that require shot making. The signature hole is #11, a picturesque par 3 that has a 70 yard drop in elevation from tee to green - a shot not found on many golf courses in north Texas, much less a par 3. I drove 80 miles one way to play this course and would do it again. If you go, time it so you can eat Texas barbeque at The Smokehouse in Lindsay.

Played this course on an ideal golfer coupon that I purchased after reading a few reviews. The layout itself isn't bad with a few good holes. I've played hundreds if golf courses around the country and I would put this in the top 5 worst conditioned courses. There are no fairways at all. Everything is just mown crabgrass. Around the green is hard pan and the greens are full of sandy spots. With some money and TLC, this course would be a good track. Until that happens this is to be avoided.
